You can thank the multi-million dollar Wisconsin Tavern League lobbyists for this BS "competition clause." While this was in my March 2018 newsletter that went out last week, I understand some of you haven't signed up or unsubscribed--however, this is important.
This law, if passed, will restrict any place the public rents where alcohol is consumed (not puchased) including barns, parks, etc. It states the LOCATION must have a liquor license, and it won't matter if the caterer has one OR, you the client purchase it for an open bar (no money changing hands for the event.)
THIS LAW HAS THE ABILITY TO PUT ME & BARNS OUT OF BUSINESS. As a reminder and example, a liquor license in Madison WI is $10K...
Wedding barns and myself are contacting WI Senators and calling BS on this bill. Wedding barns are in no way in competition with the bars here.
*Tidbit of Info: There are 3 times as many bars vs. grocery stores in this state.
