Moscow Mule Day!

Three (3) ingredients make this refreshing cocktail: vodka, ginger beer, and lime!

Invented in 1941, the Moscow Mule got its start like many stars: on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip. In 2019, come celebrate its 78th birthday!

July 2nd is National Anisette Day!

July 2nd is #NationalAnisetteDay! Anisette is an anise-flavored liqueur that is made by distilling aniseed and sometimes adding a sugar syrup.  Anisette is popular in Spain, Italy, Portugal and France.

Pure Anisette should not be drunk straight as its alcoholic content is high enough to cause irritation to the throat. However, mixing it in with coffee, gin, bourbon or water will bring out a bit of a sweet flavor.

Thanks to National Day Calendar for the info!

Happy National Brandy Alexander Day! #BrandyAlexanderDay falls on the last day of January. The original Alexander is made of gin; however, the Brandy Alexander (Alexander #2) made its way onto the scene in the 1920's. To enjoy one yourself as a digestif after dinner cocktail, the recipe is as follows:

  • 2 oz. cognac or other fine brandy
  • 1 oz. dark crème de cacao
  • 1 oz. of half-and-half

( ( ( SHAKE WELL ) ) ) with that GOOD ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish by simply grating some nutmeg on top.

Enjoy; cheers!

So, I was selected for episode 10 of Car to Table

"Car to Table is courtesy of Isthmus Madison and MINI of Madison.  This is episode 10 and features Giovanni Novella, chef at Fresco Rooftop Restaurant in Madison.  I invited my mother over for the meal that evening.  Giovanni and host David Rodriguez stop by my place place to whip up a meal for my Mother Robin and I with mystery ingredients from Metcalfe's Market."

It was a pleasant and tasty dinner.
